Ministry Update

July – September 2013

Dear Praying Friends,

Happy Fall, y'all! We're in the mountains of Virginia this week, so that seemed like an appropriate greeting. It's hard to believe that Fall is here and that 2013 is nearly over. We've had many blessings in our travels this year, and the Lord has provided as He always does. At the beginning of July, we were at Freedom Baptist Church in Jackson, Ohio with Pastor Jerry Eaton. Liz and Hope weren't with us this week, as Hope went to her first year of church camp at her Papa's church in Washington. She had a wonderful time and is looking forward to next summer. This meant that it was just "the guys" while we were in Jackson, but we had a wonderful week with the folks there. We were also able to do a bit of fishing with Bro. Corky, one of the members of the church, and David was thrilled about that. Our next meeting took us to Shickshinny, Pennsylvania where we had good fellowship with the folks at Living Word Baptist Church. The next week we were with Pastor Pat Creed in Glendale, Maryland. We had a wonderful meeting there, and the people responded each night to truth from God's Word.

On August 27, a day that will live in infamy, I celebrated my 50th birthday. Yes, it's true, I'm as old as dirt; I even had to get bifocals! I hope that you all will pray for me in my advanced age. We all have our burdens to bear. After recovering my entry into a new decade, we traveled to Emmaus, Pennsylvania to be at Lehigh Valley Baptist Church. We had a meeting on Sunday, and on Monday through Friday, I taught a class on music for their Bible institute. We increased our attendance each night of the class, and we had a wonderful time looking at what the Lord has to say regarding godly music. The next Sunday led us to Statesville, North Carolina with Pastor Randy Mitchell. Bro. Mitchell is doing a great job there, and it was good to be with them again. From North Carolina, we headed west to Meridian to Treasure Valley Baptist Church for their annual Pastor's School. This is always an enjoyable week for us as we get to see many friends as well as enjoy some fantastic preaching from men of God. It's always a time of refreshing for our family and this year was no exception.

The next Sunday we were with Pastor Steve Brown at Parkview Baptist Church in Livonia, Michigan. We hadn't been to Parkview in several years, so it was a blessing to be back with the folks there. After being in Michigan, we drove to Roanoke, Alabama to be at Soul's Harbor Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Flowers. On Tuesday, before we were scheduled to be with Bro. Flowers, we received word that his 23 year-old son-in-law, Patrick, had been tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. Needless to say, this was a heart-breaking time for the church family, but God is faithful, and His grace was evident in the lives of Patrick's wife, Joanna, and the rest of the family. Praise the Lord for the hope of Heaven.

The first Sunday in September found us in our usual place, at the Anniversary Sunday of Fellowship Baptist Church in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Pastor Jacob Langdon is doing a marvelous work there, and it's always a blessing to be with these folks each year. The next week we were with Pastor Keith Troyer in Greenville, Pennsylvania at Grace Baptist Church. The Troyers are long-time friends of ours, and we always look forward to being with them at Grace.

The next week brought us to Campbell, Ohio with Pastor Matt Ferguson at Bible Baptist Temple. We had good attendance each evening and were encouraged to see the responsiveness of the folks there. The last week of September we were in Prince George, Virginia with Pastor George Dembeck. Brother Dembeck has served there faithfully for many years and has done a great job in Prince George. While we were in the area we got to spend a day at Colonial Williamsburg, it was exciting to see American History come to life right before our eyes as the colonists were caught between a repressive dictatorship and a desire for freedom. It was well worth the trip!

Sunday October 6th was an exciting day, especially for Hope, since it was her 9th birthday! We had a wonderful time at Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church and then had our cake and ice cream Sunday night. The years are flying by faster than ever and it is hard to imagine that Hope is already nine.

The Lord has been good to us and we are so thankful for His blessings. Thank you for continuing to uphold us in prayer.

God bless you,

Mark Rogers
