June - September 2008
Dear Praying Friends,
How did it get to be Fall already?
You have heard it said that the older you get, the faster time passes. I never used to believe that but it certainly seems to be truer every year. 2008 has been exciting, to say the least, and it will get even more exciting in the next few weeks.
We have had a very busy Summer and have seen God work in lives all around the country. In June, in addition to our regular revival meetings, we were able to take part in the annual Camp Meeting at Faith Baptist Church in Franklin, KY, the Tent Meeting at First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony, PA, the Heartland Bible Conference at Hope Baptist Church in Toledo, OH, and the Independent Baptist Camp Meeting in Ontario, Canada. Those kinds of meetings can be physically tiring, but we enjoyed every bit of it and saw God do some amazing things in the meetings.
We were able to be in a couple of churches in July where we had never been before. Our meeting at Faith Independent Baptist Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland was a real blessing, as was our Sunday at Bible Baptist Temple in Euclid, Ohio. We love going new places and getting a chance to see firsthand what the Lord is doing.
Most of August, we spent on the West Coast where we were able to preach a Youth Camp. The Lord blessed Faith Baptist Church of Spokane, Washington, with a beautiful piece of property in the mountains of northwestern Montana. It was good to see Faith Baptist using the property to reach young people with the life changing power of the Word of God. We had several young people saved that week and many life changing decisions.
We had meetings at Woodin Valley Baptist in Woodinville and Yakima Bible Baptist in Yakima while we were in Washington. It was good to have a couple of weeks that we could spend time with "Papa" during our meetings there. It was also an opportunity for me to do some work on our new recording, which Lord willing, will be ready early in 2009.
In September, we were in Pennsylvania and Ohio for several meetings before flying back out to Washington for a Revival Meeting at Bible Baptist Church in Puyallup. Pastor Marvin McKenzie has done a tremendous job there and we had a great week together.
This Summer Liz was asked to speak for several ladies meetings and has done a wonderful job. She spoke for a "Ladies Tea" at Grace Baptist in Oak Harbor, Ohio, a "Ladies Gala" at Grace Baptist in Delaware, Ohio and a "Ladies Conference" in Puyallup, Washington. Liz is always nervous about those things but her testimony has been a blessing to the ladies who attend.
Make sure you check out the photo gallery to see pictures of where we have been and what we have been doing.
As we travel around the country, we seem to meet a lot of people who are worried about what the future holds. Our nation and our world are in turmoil. With our economy in a state of collapse and a presidential election on the horizon in which neither of the major candidates has any answers for the problems we are facing, things look rough.
What is the answer? The same as it has always been! Thank God, our hope is not in a bunch of spineless politicians who don't even have enough courage to admit what the problems are, let alone do what needs to be done to fix them. As the hymn writer said so well, "My hope is in the Lord, who gave Himself for me..." We are reminded in Psalm 20:7 that "Some trust in chariots and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."
Our only hope is to turn both personally and nationally, back to God. We as God's people, need to get serious about the business at hand and redouble our efforts to impact our communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your continued prayer support.
God bless you,
