February - April 2010
Dear Praying Friends,
Today we are writing from Farmington, New Mexico, where we will be finishing a revival meeting tonight at College Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Burson Corley. Brother Corley is doing a great job here seeing people saved and lives changed by the Gospel.
Many folks have asked about the truck and trailer issues that we mentioned in our last letter. I am pleased to tell you that we were able to get everything fixed, including the cracks in the frame of the trailer! We have been back in the trailer for three weeks and everything is working well. The truck is running well also. We only had one more issue with the air conditioner that showed up when we began to pull the trailer again and we were able to get it taken care of last week. God is good!
It has been a very busy Winter/Spring for us. We had the opportunity to be with Pastor Aaron Richert at Evergreen Baptist Church in Big Bear, California. Bro. Richert and his wife are out of my home church in Fairbanks. It was good to see the ministry there in Big Bear and see how God is blessing.
We were also back in Yakima, Washington, in February with Pastor Dave Brown at Yakima Bible Baptist Church. Bro. Brown has been a good friend for many years and we always enjoy being there.
After we finished in Washington, we headed back to California for a revival meeting at Lighthouse Baptist Church in La Verne. It was our first time there and the people were very receptive to the preaching and the music.
We were able to spend the last Sunday of February at East Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona. It was also David’s birthday (he turned four) and Pastor Hughes went all out to make it a special day. We had everything a four year old could want….pizza, cake, presents, cake, presents, ice cream, presents, cake...you get the idea! We love the folks at East Mesa and it was good for the kids to see that there are people who love them and pray for them often.
From Arizona we went all the way to Cleveland, Ohio, for a revival meeting at Cleveland Baptist Church, with Pastor Kevin Folger. We saw several folks saved and some real victories won in the lives of people that week. What a blessing!
The next three weeks we were in Virginia at Maranatha Baptist in Amissville, Temple Baptist in Fredericksburg and Calvary Baptist in Spotsylvania. If you know much about the history of Virginia, you know that Baptist churches have quite a history in the state and in the founding of our nation. It is good to know that the tradition is being carried on today through the ministry of good, Bible believing Baptist churches.
We had a very unusual Easter Sunday - at least it was unusual for us! We spent the day at our home in Kentucky and went to church with our good friends at Faith Baptist right next door to our house. That may seem pretty "normal" to you, but for us it was a big deal and we thoroughly enjoyed the day, even though I had to leave late that night to head for Akron, Ohio to preach for the Buckeye Independent Baptist Fellowship Annual Bible Conference.
Our next meeting was at Parkview Baptist Church in Livonia, Michigan, with Pastor Steve Brown and then we headed south to Roanoke, Alabama, for the annual Camp Meeting at El-Bethel Baptist Church in Roanoke. Pastor Fred Flowers and the folks at El-Bethel did a great job putting on the meeting and we had a great time. We were blessed and encouraged by the preaching, the music and the fellowship. It is always good to be able to sit back and get "preached to" as it gets your batteries all "recharged!" That was also our first meeting of the year to be back in our trailer and we were very glad to get back in our "own bed" and not have to live out of suitcases.
After the meeting in Roanoke, we went to Picayune, Mississippi, where three years ago, Pastor Jeremy Wilson started Heritage Baptist Church. What a blessing to see that young church growing and standing for truth. We had a great meeting there and had record attendance for the services. It will be exciting to see how God uses them in the future.
As you can see, we have been all over the country and we are enjoying the goodness of God. I am reminded of 1Timothy 1:12, "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;" what a privilege to serve our great Saviour!
Some of you have noticed that we didn't get pictures up with the last update letter, so I will try to remedy that situation and put up a few extras this time.
God bless you,
