June – August 2004
Dear Praying Friends,
We have had a full and eventful summer season, with meetings from Alaska to Tennessee and all points between.
The first week of June we hit the road for the long drive North to Alaska. We were able to spend some time with my family in between meetings around the state and that was a special blessing. Liz had never seen Alaska without snow on the ground, so she was treated to the wonderful experience of having the sun shining brightly at midnight. Trust me, it's wonderful!
On the drive to Alaska, as well as the return trip, we saw a tremendous amount of wildlife. You can check out some of the pictures on the web site. Yes, we really were as close to the animals (even the bears) as it looks in the pictures.
We also had the opportunity to spend some time at our home church, Bible Baptist, in Fairbanks. It is always a blessing to be able to be with our church family, and to see what the Lord is doing there.
In July, we were able to be with Missionary Larry Harrison in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. Bro. Harrison and the people of Calvary Baptist Church are trying to get some other churches started in villages around Whitehorse. We had a wonderful time in their Missions Conference and saw the Lord work in the hearts of the people.
We also had great meetings in Meridian, ID, Lynnwood, WA and Pasco, WA before heading back toward the East for meetings in Lexington, KY and Shelbyville, TN.
Many folks have asked how Liz is doing with all of the traveling. You will be pleased to know that your prayers for our health and safety are answered every day and that she is doing very well. Everything is going according to schedule and the baby is doing great. From all indications, the new arrival should take place right on schedule, the first week of October. Please continue to pray that everything goes as planned. We have decided that we really don't want to have the baby in the van, or at a rest area along the highway! Since so many have asked, yes, we will get pictures of the baby up on the web site as soon as possible. Just keep checking! Thank you to those churches that have been flexible with us concerning our meetings in October. We will get you worked back into the schedule as soon as possible.
When we finished in Tennessee, we flew out to California for services at Gethsemane Baptist in Long Beach with Dr. David Smith. Gethsemane is a great church with an amazing inner-city ministry and we always look forward to being there.
We also were privileged to be a part of the wedding ceremony of our good friend, Roman Gray. Many of you had the opportunity to meet Bro. Gray when he traveled with me for several months. He and his wife, Ruthie, are excited about serving the Lord together.
We finished out August with meetings in Fallsburg, OH, Slippery Rock, PA and Traverse City, MI.
Thank you for your continued prayer and encouragement as we minister around the country.
Special Prayer Request
Please pray for Liz's mother, Dorothy Paisley. She was recently diagnosed with cancer, and will be undergoing surgery the last week of September. This is not too big for God!
Our New CD, "He Does All Things Well,” should be available in October. Keep an eye on the web site and we'll let you know as soon as it is available.
Get Out and Vote!
Don't forget to vote for President in November. All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. You may not think that there is a "perfect candidate" running, and you're right, but there are clear Biblical issues on which the two candidates are poles apart. Look at the moral issues involved, check what those men say against what the Word of God says on those issues and then get out and vote!
God bless you,
